Cheesy Stove Top Macaroni

This cheesy macaroni dish is a classic, family favorite, bound to please almost everyone! Made from the stove top and filled with loads of real cheddar cheese, this recipe is great and relatively easy to make.

Ingredients needed: shell pasta, butter, flour, milk, 8 oz block of cheddar cheese (or other desired cheese)

Making Roux

Boil 3 cups shell pasta according to package directions.

In bowl or container, mix together 1/2 cup milk + 1/4 cup of flour and mix until flour is dissolved and mixture is creamy.

Pour 1 cup milk into saucepan, heat on medium and stir occasionally so milk doesn't burn.

Once milk is steaming, add the flour and milk mixture to the sauce pan with 1/2 stick of butter.

Add a liberal amount of salt and cubed cheddar cheese to sauce pan, stirring the cheese into the sauce as it melts.

Once the cheese is melted and the sauce is thick and creamy, strain pasta then stir in the cheese sauce. Voila! There you have a simple and easy home-style macaroni.

Recipe review: 8/10 (salt and pepper does the trick!)

Decadent Puppy Chow

This sweet puppy chow recipe makes for a decadent treat. It's easy to make and the end result tastes just like candy. Makes a party-sized batch that is perfect to share with your family and friends!

Ingredients needed: peanut butter, powdered sugar, baking chocolate chips, butter, Chex Mix cereal.

Preparing Puppy Chow

Melt 1/2 stick butter and 1 cup of chocolate chips in a pan on medium heat. Stir occasionally to keep from burning the chocolate.

Once the chocolate has melted, add 1/2 cup of peanut butter to the mixture, stir until melted and mixed evenly.

Remove pan from the heat, pour in around 9 cups of Chex Mix (or about a whole large box.)

Stir Chex Mix lightly until cereal is evenly coated in the chocolate-peanut butter mixture.

Pour 3/4 a cup of powdered sugar into a plastic bag, add chocolate covered cereal while it's still warm.

Shake bag until puppy chow is evenly coated in powdered sugar. Slowly add more powdered sugar if needed.

Now enjoy the treat! Bring this as a snack to a party or share.

Or freeze the rest and save for a later date!

Oven Roasted Beef

This oven roasted beef is hot, tender, and filling, without being too rich. With a side of roasted carrots and potatoes, what more could you want? This is a good meal for the family on the weekend, as well as a good southern dish to warm you up on a chilly winter day.

Ingredients needed: rump roast, beef broth, can, cream of mushroom soup, garlic, onions, flour, water, carrots, potatoes, optional: mushrooms

Getting Started

Prepare a gravy mixture of 2 cups beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, water, and flour. Mix the ingredients to your desired thickness and taste.

Place medium rump roast in deep dish.

Fill deep dish with mixture halfway soaking the roast.

Add cut onions and garlic to the mixture.

Cover with foil with room for the top, make sure foil does not touch the rump roast or it will burn the top of the roast (learned this one the hard way).

Cook to a medium heat, or around 350 degrees, for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, turn down to a low heat, around 250 degrees and cook for 2-3 hours depending on the size of the roast.

After the roast has been slow cooked for a decent amount of time, a fork should easily slide throug te meat.

Take out the dish and add cut potatoes and carrots to the mixture around the roast.

Continue to cook on low heat, around 250 degrees for 1-1 1/2 hours until fully cooked or until you can easily slide a fork through the veggies!
